“Quality City - China Plan” is a continuous research plan based on the current situation and problems of urban renewal in China, which aims to explore the innovative model of high-quality urban development in China. China has experienced a rapid urbanization development process far faster than that of the western countries, and owned a unique system and mechanism, development stage and urban scale. Therefore, compared with the western countries, the urban renewal situation in China is more complicated. We shall not only make up for the urban problems left by the previous rapid urbanization, but also respond to the new needs of the society for urban development. “Quality City - China Plan” is an active exploration on the issue of "how to implement the urban renewal in China" at current stage.
“Quality City - China Plan” has made a concrete division of the abstract concept of "high-quality city", such as the research and construction of urban aesthetic system, the cultivation and guidance of lifestyle, the innovation of urban administration and operation mode, etc. It carries out special exploration and research, touches on the core issues in urban renewal such as the industrial operation, livelihood improvement, enhancement of environmental facilities, historical and cultural protection and activation, and strives to build a high-quality urban system, so as to finally solve the contradiction between urban residents’ pursuit of high-quality life and insufficient supply of the urban development, and bring a better urban life to the people.

Urban Aesthetics Recreation

Q-City International Young Designer Competition (Yulin, China) “Urban Aesthetics Recreation” as the theme and lets Yulin Acropolis, the fresh national historical and cultural city, as the base, which aims to lead people to find an urban aesthetic carrier of harmony in diversity, establish an exclusive aesthetic system of Yulin Ancient City, and create a beautiful urban life benefiting to both residents and tourists.
Urban aesthetics is a significant part of the urban renewal, which is not only connected to the public's aesthetics of the city, but also related to the creation of the urban vitality. It involves all aspects of urban life, which is not only reflected in landscape art and public facilities, but also in the enduring urban spirit, the air filled with breath of life and the humanistic atmosphere of various places. Therefore, the construction of urban aesthetic system needs to be rooted in the exploration and understanding of local people’s livelihood, industrial economy, cultural gene, environmental elements, urban administration and operation, use systematic and comprehensive thinking, get rid of the development mode of large-scale demolition and construction, repairing the old as the old and industrialized production, and adopt the concept of acupuncture transformation to refine and create works with condensed wisdom, so as to activate the urban business form and respond to the core theme of urban renewal: high-quality urban development.
Taking the diversified forms of urban furniture, landscape& floral art, public art and visual system as the carrier, this international competition invites young designers as well as college teachers and students, from home and abroad, in architecture, landscape, environmental art, digital media, public art and visual design to participate in the research on reconstruction of urban aesthetic system, and solicits new urban functions, new forms and new modules with both urban functions and ancient city style. The competition hopes that the participants will break the professional boundary, think about current public life and activities of "new residents" in the ancient city in the future, stimulate the regeneration of urban vitality, form the unique character and cultural tone of the ancient city, and finally jointly create a dynamic historical and cultural city with tastes of both contemporary life and aesthetics.
The competition is chaired by Mr. Zeng Hui, who is a famous design scholar and art curator in China. Mr. ZengHui is the planning director of Beijing International Design Week, the master of Baihuazhou Traditional Handcraft Workshop, the deputy secretary-general of Architecture and Culture Society of China, the president of Hostel Industry Branch and the CBC chief expert of urban aesthetics. 1.Design Scope
The scope of site in the competition is Main Street of Yulin Acropolis. Including the street from Zhenyuan Gate, through Wenchang Pavilion、Wanfo Tower、Xingming Tower、Bell Tower、Kaige Tower, Bell Tower, to Guangyu Gate,  about 2.2 kilometers length in total.

2.Design Contents
The participants are encouraged to combine, comb and innovate different types of urban functions and aesthetic designs, regardless of the form of works. The design works can be urban furniture that improves the function of the block, such as street seats and street lighting. It can be public art that reshapes the street aesthetic system, such as interactive art installations and urban memory display. Also, it can be landscape or floral art to improve the quality of space environment, or a comprehensive solution of street space.

3. Design Requirements
The competition requires participants to take the space in the Main Street of Yulin Acropolis as the place to put forward an implementable aesthetic design scheme of the ancient city.
The participants are encouraged to propose systematic design schemes and comprehensive solutions.

The works shall need to meet below requirements.
Originality: The submitted works must be the original design of the participants.
Artistry: The scheme design should show certain aesthetic value.
Innovation: The scheme design should create an innovative and dynamic space for the ancient city, regardless of the materials and design methods.
Locality: The scheme design should combine with the historical, cultural, natural environment and other elements to show the regional culture of Yulin. It also can be carried out in combination with the local intangible cultural heritage.
Feasibility: The works shall be implementable in terms of materials, construction form and manufacturing process, and the design shall comply with relevant regulations such as the Conservation Plan of Yulin Famous Historical and Cultural City.
Sustainability: The design should consider the sustainability of the works in terms of materials and subsequent operation.
People-oriented: The design should fully consider the actual needs of all kinds of people and create a vigorous space of the ancient city.
 The scheme design should increase the interaction of works to create interesting public space. 
It is encouraged to use new materials and technologies in the works and apply intelligent design means. The multi-functional composite design of works is also encouraged.

1.Registration
(1)The competition is open to young designers, artists, teams of teachers and students worldwide in the fields of architecture, landscape, environmental art, digital media and visual design, regarding urban furniture, landscape, public art, visual system and other methods as its carriers. Meanwhile, interdisciplinary professionals and practitioners are also encouraged to participate. Individual or team competitors are both acceptable. A team leader should be named for future contact, if competitors participate as a team.

2.Submission
All participants are required to submit digital files, including drawings and other related information, participants can submit an independent work or a series of entries. Multiple entries are not accepted. The series works refer to the series of creations under the same theme, while production-oriented repetitive patchwork is discouraged;

3.Jury Review
The organizing committee have invited renowned architects in planning, architecture, landscape and other professionals from domestic or abroad to form the final review jury panel and evaluate the entries for the competition.
